The foundational rule of grillz care begins the moment you take them off:
never allow saliva to dry inside the caps, and never seal them away while damp.
Saliva is naturally acidic and rich in sulfur compounds that accelerate surface oxidation, resulting in that sour, penny-like metallic taste often mistaken for poor metal quality. Immediately upon removal, rinse your pieces under lukewarm running water to flush away surface enzymes before they settle. Pat them completely dry with a clean, lint-free microfiber towel, and let them rest in open air for ten minutes before placing them into their storage case. Trapping residual humidity inside a sealed box creates a micro-greenhouse that turns silver black and dulls high-karat gold within days.
When performing a routine deep clean:
avoid commercial toothpastes at all costs.
Most standard toothpaste formulations contain abrasive micro-silica engineered to scrub natural enamel; on soft precious metals, these micro-granules inflict thousands of tiny scratches that permanently cloud a mirror finish. Instead, submerge your caps in warm water mixed with a few drops of mild, non-abrasive liquid soap. Using an ultra-soft infant toothbrush, gently work the bristles into the internal impression walls where plaque naturally accumulates. For sterling silver exteriors, use a specialized polishing cloth to restore reflection without stripping detail.
For new owners:
Do not eat, sleep, or smoke while wearing your caps.
Food particles distort the custom fit and trap bacteria directly against your enamel, while heat and smoke rapidly discolor precious metals. Crucially, never attempt to sterilize your grillz using boiling water, extreme heat can warp the custom-molded fit, distort the metal's memory, and destroy delicate gem settings or enamel work.
